Coronavirus: Poland launches further lifting of restrictions

On 13 May 2020 Polish government presented a plan to lift further restrictions. First we will be able to go to the hairdresser, as well as restaurants and cafes. The next step will be “defrosting” schools.

Next Monday, May 18th, it will be possible:

  • Reopen restaurants, cafes and bars (both indoor and outdoor), but with a limit of one person per 4 square metres of space, and at least 2 metres between tables, as well as compulsory masks and gloves for staff.
  • Reopen hair and beauty salons , but with compulsory covering of mouth and nose (if it is possible), use of single-use paper towels and bookings made by phone or online.

In addition, there were also introduced, among others.:

  • Reducing limits of participants in religious ceremonies. There must be 10 m2 per one participant of the mass, not 15 m2 so far.
    Reducing limits of public transport passengers. It will be possible to take 30% of all seats (sitting and standing) in a vehicle.
  • Less restrictive rules for sports facilities.
    Partial unblocking of cultural and artistic activities, e.g.: reopening of open-air cinemas, restarting work on film sets. Individual classes at art schools will also return.
  • From May 25th, children in grades 1-3 will be able to return to schools, and there will be care and educational activities for them in small groups. The return of children to schools is to be optional.
    Also from 25 May, consultations with teachers for primary and secondary school students waiting for exams. Later on, consultations will be possible for all other students. Students are to return to the universities, also from 25 May. Classes are to be held for students of the last years of their studies and when it is not possible to carry them online.
