On Thursday 28 January, Health Minister Adam Niedzielski gave an update on the lifting of restrictions in Poland.

According to earlier unofficial information, trading in galleries is returning from 1 February. This means that while maintaining the sanitary regime, they will be able to operate to a similar extent as in December before Christmas. Art galleries and museums will also be able to operate on similar terms from 1 February.

The second change is the abolition of hours for senior citizens. This is also possible due to the progressive rate of vaccination in this group.

All other restrictions will be maintained. The Ministry argues this, on the one hand, with very strict restrictions in other European countries. On the other hand, the argument against a faster lifting of restrictions is the international situation in the context of the disease and the appearance of the first cases of the so-called British COVID-19 strain in Poland.
