InPost will launch 20 new Lodowkomats in another Polish city, namely Wroclaw. Currently such InPost devices are available in Warsaw and Cracow – in total in 50 locations. InPost fridge machines also operate at Auchan shops in Piaseczno, Lomianki and Auchan Jubilerska in Warsaw. Even before the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the Kantar TNS survey, 40% of online shoppers wanted to collect their groceries in Paczkomaty InPost – now the demand for Lodowkomaty is even greater.

InPost fridge machines have three temperature zones – permanent +16°C, cooling +4°C and freezing -18°C. Openings in the walls of the box ensure air flow.

We have already tested the fridge machines in Warsaw and Cracow. The machines are perfectly fine-tuned and meet all the criteria necessary for storing food. This means that we are fully prepared to develop a network of such machines in Poland. However, this year we will focus on increasing the number of easyPack machines in Poland and Europe – that’s why the next Lodowkomaty will be installed next year. This is another promising area in which we are developing – in addition to expanding our geographical reach. The pandemic has confirmed that online grocery shopping – especially in big cities – is increasingly in demand among consumers. Convenient pick-up and delivery in our machines will be an added advantage for retail chains and e-tailers, especially as we are able to ensure exorbitant delivery times. I am convinced that the e-grocery segment will develop dynamically – regardless of the pandemic that has unleashed such mechanisms and reinforced the current trends – emphasises Rafał Brzoska, the President of InPost.

InPost already has over 6.5 million active users of the InPost Mobile application

Thanks to the application, parcels can be picked up at one Paczkomaty by several people at the same time, without the need to stand in line or touch the screen – the boxes can be opened with a smartphone. It is also possible to send parcels via the application to another Paczkomaty InPost or to a specified home address. Through the InPost Mobile application, you can pay for a parcel using BLIK code, payment card or fast transfer (DotPay), and soon Apple Pay and Google Pay. The status of a shipped parcel can be tracked in the application, of course, but also on the website www.inpost.pl in the “Parcel Tracking” section and via a chatbot by entering the 24-digit parcel number or the phone number and the last 4 digits of the parcel number.

According to the Gemius report, Paczkomaty are the most frequently chosen form of delivery – they have overtaken couriers

This type of delivery is preferred by as many as 61% of online shoppers. This means an increase in the popularity of the service among internet users by as much as 9 percentage points compared to the results of the 2019 report. In addition, as many as 68% of respondents declare that the possibility of collecting purchases by InPost devices motivate them to buy from a particular online shop – this is an increase of 7 percentage points year-on-year.

InPost parcel machines are also available in Poland at shops: Dino, Lidl, Kaufland, the Delikatesy Centrum chain of shops organised by the Eurocash Group, as well as at Auchan shopping centres. InPost has also signed a contract with the Auchan chain shops for delivery to Lodówkomat. The functionalities of InPost fridge machines allow for safe storage and collection of food, beverages and frozen food ordered via the Internet in Auchan Direct.
