As reported by Wiadomości Handlowe, the Click&Collect project on the rezerwuj.lidl.pl platform, introduced by the chain in May 2020, was cancelled on 10 May this year. The service had been tested for a year in one of the shops in Poznań. No reasons were given for the cancellation of the project.

Lidl presented the service as a pilot project for the time of the pandemic because of concern for its customers. The rezerwuj.lidl.pl platform made it possible to reserve products available in the discount store’s offer, including food products such as meat, bread, vegetables, but also household goods, such as cleaning products and cosmetics. Purchases could be picked up even several minutes after placing the order.

The aim of the rezerwuj.lidl.pl platform was to test the possibility of booking our products online and then picking them up in one of the shops. The experience we have gathered will be used in the development of our next projects – explains Aleksandra Robaszkiewicz, Head of Communications and CSR at Lidl Poland, in response to questions from wiadomoscihandlowe.pl.

However, Lidl already has an established brand with industrial goods in the online channel, which was launched in spring 2019. It allows orders to be delivered to the address specified by the customer.

Orders delivered to parcel machines

Due to the strong growth in orders from the online shop, Lidl has decided to expand its non-food range. The range now includes over 2,000 products, including own-brand products such as: Esmara, Lupilu, Pepperts, Parkside, Crivit or SilverCrest. The products fall into eight categories: fashion, home, baby, workshop and car, kitchen, sport and leisure, health and beauty and garden. A 77% increase in the number of items is planned for the 2021/2022 season.

Currently, orders are delivered to the indicated address via courier services and to Lidl stationary shops. The chain’s new concept is to allow orders to be collected in parcel machines.
