PMR survey: The most popular home decor articles bought by Poles are carpets

According to PMR survey, over half of Poles purchased home and decor articles (e.g. frames, carpets, linings, curtains) in the last 12 months preceding the survey. Such purchases were more frequently made by women, people aged 35-54 and city residents. A vast majority of respondents declared purchasing a rug.

7 out of 10 respondents bought a carpet

According to PMR survey conducted in January 2020, over half of Poles purchased home and decor articles (e.g. frames, carpets, linings, curtains) in the last 12 months preceding the survey.

The vast majority of respondents who declared to have purchased a rug during the year preceding the survey – 71%. Such a purchase was more often decided by men (73% of men compared to 3 p.p. less women). Such products are most often purchased by people with lower education – 75%, compared to 69% among people with higher education.

What is interesting, no significant differences can be seen due to the place of residence (difference of 4 p.p. in favour of rural areas) and the housing situation – owners or co-owners of the inhabited place declared 72% and 66% respectively, compared to 72% of the respondents renting a house or a flat declaring this purchase.

Every fifth respondent declared purchasing a carpet

Another category of home and decor articles that every fifth respondent declared to buy are coverings. In the case of this category, men also more often declared their purchase – 23% vs. 17% of women. The vast majority of respondents who declared to have bought a covering during the year preceding the survey are the owner or co-owner of the place they live in – 22% and 17% respectively. Definitely fewer people renting a flat/house (3%) declared such purchase.

Most respondents purchased a covering or carpet in 2019. – 71% and 78% of respondents declaring such purchases respectively.
