Increased public awareness makes customers decide to choose products from manufacturers or chain stores reflecting their way of thinking, which forces specific actions of the largest companies on the market. Recently, interesting initiatives have been boasting Żabka, Spar and Drogerie Natura.

Żabka: 100% green Energy

The Żabka chain was the first in Poland to open a store powered exclusively by clean energy. It is located in Warsaw. According to the chain, it is a kind of laboratory of new technologies in trade. Innovative solutions include, among others: kinetic floor (turns every step into electric energy) or quantum dots that extract energy from the sun’s rays mounted on store windows.

The furniture in the shop come from recycled. The facility also has smart electronic labels, so called price lists, and smart digital signage screens, which are the digital equivalent of the previously used posters. Both solutions are powered by green energy, additionally allowing to save paper. Other solutions, not used according to Żabka so far in other stores in Poland, include intelligent refrigerator doors designed exclusively for the network. They limit the amount of escaping energy (just put your hand on it and the shutter door will open).

In addition, a wall consisting of a thousand PET bottles of drinks drunk by people working on the project was used in the technical room. The new facility also uses traditional ecological solutions. On the roof of the store there are 40 photovoltaic panels, and in front of the store there is a solar bench, bicycle repair point and electric vehicle charging station.

SPAR will be delivering e-shopping by electricians

The SPAR Group started test deliveries of Nissan e-NV200 electric purchases in early November. The pilot city where the chain will test the new solution is Warsaw, but in the future the group expects to launch the service in other regions of Poland. The increase in the number of electric vehicles implemented in SPAR stores will largely depend on the development of the Polish electromobility support program.

Online shopping in the SPAR chain can be made via the e-spar.com.pl website. or SPAR DRIVE (available in 30 outlets in Poland). The chain also cooperates with the Wolt company in terms of product delivery, but currently orders are carried out exclusively in Warsaw. As Tomasz Waligórski, Sales Director of your SPAR e-grocery store, emphasizes, there is a chance for further growth, but it will depend entirely on consumers’ decisions and preferences. It is them and their shopping habits that are and will be the biggest indicator or barrier to the development of this segment.

Drogerie Natura with a new store concept

In the Grunwald Passage in Wrocław, after modernization, the Drogerie Natura opened their flagship store. This is the first outlet of Drogerie Natura in the new visualization. During the renovation of the facility, great emphasis was placed on ecological issues. This includes finishing in natural colors (wood, green) or a wide range of natural cosmetics.

Additionally, by installing a touch screen on a realistic leaf wall, customers also have access to the full commercial offer of the network. In this way, the drugstore makes it easier to get acquainted with the current Internet offer and order products, including self-collection in a Wroclaw location.
