On 27 March, the Silesia Outlet, the largest outlet centre in Upper Silesia, was opened in Gliwice. The construction of the facility, whose investor is 6B47 Real Estate, amounted to 120 million PLN. In the first phase of the investment, the centre will comprise more than 60 outlet stores with a retail area of 12,000 m². The planned Phase II of the investment assumes the expansion of the centre by another 8,000 m². Customers also have at their disposal a parking lot with over 400 parking spaces, which will be increased by half in the next phase of the investment.

As Wojciech Cieślak, President of Blue Ocean Investment Group (BOIG), the company responsible for commercialization of the project, said to Retailnet, 90% of the shopping area of the centre was leased on the opening day. The Silesia Outlet offers such fashion brands as Triumph, Gatta, Lavard, Vistula, Wólczanka, Bytom, Guess, Lee Cooper, Kazar, or Wrangler. The sports offer of the centre includes, among others: Intersport, Martes Sport, 4F, Puma, Reebok and New Balance.

Currently, shopping centres are the most popular commodity on the commercial real estate market. Only in Śląskie Voivodeship we can distinguish among the largest shopping centres opened last year: Galeria Libero in Katowice (Echo Investment, 45,000 m²), Gemini Park in Tychy (Gemini Holding, 37,000 m²), Galeria Stela in Cieszyn (BPF Inwestor), or Platan in Zabrze.
