Glovo, a mobile application specialising in on-demand deliveries, is entering a new business segment. The company is launching a new tab, which will enable the customers to place orders for alcoholic products. The new feature is currently being tested in Warsaw, but there are plans being made for further expansion into other Polish cities.

Depending on the location, the application users will now be able to order products from the following stores: Vine Avenue, Wine Me, Single Malt, Smacza Jama, Inne beczki, Dobre Wina. The offer will be extended to include other partners and other areas.

To place the order, the customer will be asked to confirm their legal age, accept the terms and conditions, and agree for the delivery person to receive the order. Moreover, the delivery worker is obligated to refuse to hand the goods to intoxicated customers.

Glovo is also launching novelties on the Polish market. These include Glovo Concepts – private labels and Glovo Express delivery.

Glovo Express aims to cut the delivery time to 30 minutes maximum. This will however necessitate the construction of a network of dark stores. At the beginning of the year, Glovo entered into a partnership with Stoneweg, a real estate company, which invest €100m in the establishment of 175 micro-logistics centers in 16 countries, including Poland. The first such facilities will start operating in Poland already this summer, while the total plan, for now, includes six cities, including Warsaw, Cracow and Gdansk. Glovo has also launched a range of private labels – Glovo Concepts, which is currently comprised of five brands – The Urban Kebab, Meraki Pita, Bendito Burrito, Taqueria Guadalupe and Milanesa House. The first markets to see this novelty are Italy and Spain, where the products are available in more than 200 restaurants, while Poland will join later this year.

Glovo is a Barcelona-based company with coverage in more than 1,000 cities in 22 countries in the EEMEA region and sub-Saharan Africa. Glovo has 89 thousand affiliated partners worldwide, it also employs 58 thousand active delivery workers serving over 3.9 million users per month. In 2019, Glovo emerged on the Polish market by taking over PizzaPortal, and currently provides their services in 87 Polish cities.
