OTCF, owner of the Polish sportswear brand 4F, is launching a new project. The company’s president, Igor Klaja, came up with the idea of creating a network of multifunctional cafes under the name of 4F Cafe.

4F Cafe: Café and selling place

The first 4F Cafe will start on October 1 at Konstruktorska Street in Warsaw. The new concept is to combine the café and the sales space. It is supposed to enable receiving things ordered via the internet and measuring them. At the same time, it is to be a meeting place for interesting people offering coffee and healthy food.

Cafes 4F is to be located outside shopping malls, which are currently less frequently visited than before the lockdown. The company aims at places located in busy streets, promenades and tourist places, but also in large clusters of apartments and office areas. There, in the company’s opinion, there are repeat customers with whom you can connect locally. 4F does not disclose how many units are to be counted in the target chain, but it is known that franchising of units is planned.

The segment of the café will suffer greatly from coronavirus

The year 2020 is extremely difficult for the entire HoReCa market, and cafés are one of the most affected segments on the Re market. In mid-March, the majority of major café chains in Poland decided to temporarily suspend their operations. Later on, they gradually returned to operations, but only in the take-away option. In the case of this type of establishments, due to the specifics of the offered products, it was not possible to launch a delivery option, which would help to partially offset losses.

In recent years, the café segment has been growing in value terms y/y, and in 2019, according to PMR, the growth rate was 5%.
