The InPost company in Great Britain started cooperation with the railway company South Western Railway. Under the contract, 40 new InPost parcel machines will be deployed at 14 stations in the Greater London region. There are also plans to install parcel machines at suburban stations.
Further activities of InPost on the British market
According to InPost, in the Greater London area, the city railway is a very important means of transport to school and work. Hence the decision to install parcel machines at several South Western Railway stations. The company plans to install parcel machines also at suburban stations. The observation of the Polish market shows that the popularity of the company’s parcel machines in large cities and smaller towns is almost the same.
This is another of InPost’s activities on the British market. Let us recall that in May the company deployed 24 parcel machines at Lidl shops in Great Britain. In the parcel machines of the Polish company it is possible to collect purchases from such online shops as Boohoo, Holland & Barrett or JD Grup. InPost parcel machines are also located at Morrisons chain stores and at BP and Esso stations.
The number of parcel machines and services is increasing
In Poland InPost has over 6,000 parcel machines. According to a survey referred to by the company, its parcel machines are most often chosen as a form of delivery from online shops – as much as 80% of buyers choose them. Parcel machines are also the second most frequently chosen form of sending goods, right after the Polish Post. About 4 million users have the InPost application, which enables remote opening of parcel machines (several hundred thousand remote openings a day). The company plans to soon introduce a functionality enabling sending parcels using the application.
One of the latest innovations introduced by InPost is the “Parcel in a weekend” (Paczka w weekend) service. The launch of this service was accelerated after the increase in popularity of online shopping in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. The service enables deliveries to parcel machines also on Saturdays and Sundays, provided that the order is placed on Saturday by 1 p.m. A new service is also “Pass on” (Podaj dalej) for business customers. It offers favourable price conditions for parcel machine deliveries, which were physically sent and received in the same machine. The service is especially directed to small e-commerce, which operates locally.
