Sales at Hebe down almost 2% in H1 2020

Hebe registered sales revenues in Poland of €115m (PLN 507m) in H1 2020. This represents a decrease of 1.7% compared with the same period in the previous year, when measured in euro.

Hebe, Portugal-based retailer Hebe registered sales revenues in Poland of €115m (PLN 507m) in six months of 2020, accounting for 1.2% of the company’s total revenues. The chain recorded a lower result of 1.7% in euro (or an increase of 1.2% in local currency), compared to the first half of the previous year, where revenues remained at € 117 million (€ 207 million).

Hebe reported 11 new store openings and no store closures in Poland in H1 2020, and its chain in the country remained at 284 outlets. Hebe operates 256 drugstores (including 21 with a pharmacy) and 28 pharmacies operating under the Hebe name. However, the chain, plans to focus its expansion efforts on drugstore part only, and all 48 pharmacies will be closed,

Hebe – the last top player launched an online store

The result of the chain was also influenced by the opening of Hebe’s online store in July 2019. In the second quarter of 2020 alone, online sales increased by 80% compared to the first quarter. 2020.

The assortment of the online store has been extended to new brands (previously available in selected Hebe stores), e.g. NYX, Physicians Formula, Tealogy, Yasumi, Saem, A by Bom, Tony Moly. The offer of dermocosmetics and natural, Korean or make-up cosmetics has also increased.

The first Hebe health and beauty store was opened in Poland in May 2011. The chain operates in two formats: one combining a cosmetics store and a pharmacy (cosmetics-and-pharmacy outlets) on the area of more than 400 m² and, to the greatest extent, in the format of an independent health and beauty store of more than 250 m².
